Hi all,
While watching an interview last week I heard something that made me think no way….
Today the interview was released on the web so I watched it again, when I heard this line again I decided to check it out..
The line?
Chicken McNuggets from McDonalds contain Butane!
Yes, Butane, the same stuff that comes in Bic Lighters and is commonly refered to as Lighter Fluid. So I am sure your thinking, just like I was that this is crazy. McDonald’s could not possibly think that adding a petroleum product as toxic as Butane to their food could possibly be acceptable.
Unfortunately it seems to be true, From the Nutrition guide supplied from the McDonald’s website you can clearly see the information from the following report.
From a report by Al Nye, The Laywer Guy Click the link to read the entire article.
excerpts…
“McNuggets also contain several completely synthetic ingredients, quasiedible substances that ultimately come not from a corn or soybean field but form a petroleum refinery or chemical plant”
“Listed first are the “leavening agents”: sodium aluminum phosphate, mono-calcium phosphate, sodium acid pyrophosphate, and calcium lactate”
“dimethylpolysiloxene, added to the cooking oil” – everything fried at MickeyD’s touches this nasty chemical.
“But perhaps the most alarming ingredient in a Chicken McNugget is tertiary butylhydroquinone, or TBHQ, an antioxidant derived from petroleum that is either sprayed directly on the nugget or the inside of the box it comes in to “help preserve freshness.” According to A Consumer’s Dictionary of Food Additives, TBHQ is a form of butane (i.e. lighter fluid)”
Read the report from Al Nye and then even look over the Nutrition guide and consider yourself more educated.
I am finding common threads an all this Nutrition information, the more I search the more it disgusts me. I feel it is a shame that fast food is so much less expensive than good healthy food from the local markets – or is it?.
